Baldwin EMC recently hosted a free energy education expo for members at the co-op’s headquarters in Summerdale. Energy marketing specialists Melissa Vaughn and Tim Hobbs gave a presentation of ten ways to save energy and included an overview of Baldwin EMC’s programs. Hobbs also demonstrated basic electrical safety rules using the interactive “Safety City” exhibit.
Several members won door prizes including compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, Kill-A-Watt devices and an electric stainless steel smoker. Everyone in attendance received a CFL bulb, and co-op representatives provided copies of the presentation so members could review the information at home and apply the suggested energy saving methods.
“Saving money is something every member can appreciate,” said Greg Gipson, manager of energy services. “We can help our members save by educating them and helping them make the best choices about their electricity use.”
